BUILDERS
We propose to build Spirit of The Bahamas here on the island of New Providence in the Bahamas with a construction team, led by the designer and comprising boat builders from several different Nations and areas. Among these, we expect Abaco in the Bahamas, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela to be included.
Hands on experience in the construction of Spirit of the Bahamas will, we believe provide the individual members of the construction team with the neccessary insight into the basic design and construction concepts which can later be applied to the construction of a wide variety of vessels for a wide variety of applications back in their country of origin.
Other benefits to be derived from this arrangement will hopefully include the immediate contribution to the project of the particular boatbuiding skills and "tricks of the trade" of the individual team members and the dissemination of those assets among the whole team.
We would like to think that the cooperation and transfer of information that will hopefully take place during this particular project will carry through into the future - and that the resulting network of boatbuiders will contine to assist each other in improving efficiency, productivity and quality. This will hopefully result in benefits to the planet, the world community, their countries, their customers, and to themselves.
Our purpose as the pricipals of Spirit of The Bahamas will be to generate interest
and demand, to encourage other boatbuilders to join the program, and to guide interested persons to a network of highly capable boatbuiders, who are ready and willing to provide them wth vessels which meet their design requirements - at a
a very reasonable cost.
Ideas and suggestions, regarding various configurations and applications of vessels based on our basic design concepts, together with a listing of the proposed network of boat builders, will be updated regularly on the web site.
